What This Bill Does

Requires the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to cancel municipal solid waste disposal permits if a landfill facility has not accepted waste for a certain period and if the original permit holder no longer owns the facility. This legislation aims to clean up outdated or inactive waste disposal permits, ensuring that only active and currently owned landfill sites maintain valid permits. The bill will take effect on September 1, 2025, and applies to facility ownership transfers occurring on or after that date.
