What This Bill Does
Requires judges and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to provide written notice to individuals convicted of felonies about their potential voter registration eligibility upon completing their sentence, parole, or probation. The notice informs felons that they may be able to register to vote under Section 13.001 of the Election Code, helping to clarify voting rights for people who have completed their criminal justice supervision. This legislation aims to increase awareness and potentially improve voter participation among formerly incarcerated individuals.
