What This Bill Does

Clarifies motorcycle movement and lane usage rules in Texas, giving motorcyclists the full right to use a lane and establishing specific conditions for lane sharing and passing. Motorcyclists can ride two abreast in a single lane and may pass another vehicle within the same lane only under strict conditions: on a divided highway with at least two lanes, when the vehicle being passed is stopped or moving at 10 mph or less, the motorcycle passes at no more than 20 mph, and the pass can be done safely. The legislation aims to provide clearer guidelines for motorcycle operation while maintaining road safety for all vehicles.
