What This Bill Does

Establishes the Julia C. Hester House State Park in Houston, creating a new state park centered around the historic Julia C. Hester House settlement house and community center. The Parks and Wildlife Department is authorized to acquire the undeveloped land surrounding the house through purchase, gift, lease, or condemnation, with the park officially taking effect once all land is acquired. This legislation preserves a significant community landmark and transforms it into a state park, potentially providing historical and cultural resources for local residents and visitors.
