What This Bill Does
Protects property owners, tenants, and their guests who use justified force, including deadly force, on residential property by preventing landlords, condominium associations, and property management from taking adverse actions against them. If a person is found not guilty, not indicted, or not prosecuted for an offense related to the use of force, there is an automatic presumption that the force was justified under Texas law. The bill applies to condominiums, leased residential properties, and manufactured homes, ensuring that individuals can defend themselves without fear of eviction or penalties from property management.
