What This Bill Does

Requires the Texas Department of State Health Services to develop model recess policies that encourage constructive, age-appropriate outdoor playtime for public school students. School district boards must review these model policies, adopt a district-specific recess policy specifying weekly recess minutes and guidelines for withholding recess time, and implement the policy by the 2026-2027 school year. The goal is to maximize students' outdoor physical activity and provide clear, consistent recess guidelines across Texas public schools.
