What This Bill Does

Requires the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association to automatically approve insurance coverage for new structures built using fortified construction standards published by the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety. The standards apply to homes, multifamily buildings, and commercial structures constructed on or after September 1, 2025, making it easier for property owners in wind-prone areas to obtain insurance by meeting specific building resilience criteria. The legislation aims to encourage more robust construction techniques that can better withstand severe wind events in coastal and high-risk regions of Texas.
