What This Bill Does
Addresses hearsay evidence in hearings for individuals charged with violating conditions of release from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Specifically, the legislation establishes that hearsay evidence will not be admissible during these hearings, which could impact how violations are determined and potentially limit the types of testimony or statements that can be used as evidence. The law will take effect on September 1, 2025, giving legal systems time to prepare for the new evidentiary standard.
