What This Bill Does
Allows school district boards of trustees to regain management control of their district or campus if the campuses receive an acceptable performance rating after being placed under conservatorship or alternative management by the Texas Education Commissioner. The legislation modifies existing rules about school district oversight, specifically requiring the commissioner to remove a board of managers if campuses achieve an acceptable performance rating. The change provides a clearer pathway for local school boards to restore their governance rights after previously being deemed underperforming.
