What This Bill Does
Prevents schools from releasing a student to their parent before the end of the school day after a school-initiated communication about student behavior, unless the student is being suspended or expelled. The legislation aims to discourage premature student removals for minor behavioral issues that do not violate the school's code of conduct or require teacher removal of the student. The bill will apply to all school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas starting in the 2025-2026 school year.
