What This Bill Does

Requires state-owned parking lots and garages constructed after September 1, 2025, to include a sufficient number of electric vehicle charging stations. The Texas commission will determine the number of charging stations based on factors like current and projected electric vehicle registrations, state vehicle usage, parking lot characteristics, charging technology, and anticipated charging demand. The commission must develop specific guidelines in consultation with the state energy conservation office to establish standards for charging station installation across different parking lot sizes and uses.
