What This Bill Does

The Texas Public Utility Commission will conduct a comprehensive study on electricity demand response programs, examining how customers can reduce electricity usage during peak times through price changes and incentive payments. By December 1, 2026, the commission must submit a report to the legislature detailing current participation levels across customer classes, identifying barriers to expanding demand response, and recommending legislative actions to enhance these programs. The study aims to understand and potentially improve strategies for managing electricity consumption more efficiently across the state.
