What This Bill Does
Increases the maximum number of media production development zones in Texas, allowing up to 15 zones statewide (up from 10), with no more than 10 zones per region. Each zone can now contain up to 8 qualified media production locations, expanded from the previous limit of 3 locations. The changes aim to provide more flexibility and opportunities for media production development across the state, taking effect on September 1, 2025.

relating to the maximum number of media production development zones in this state and of qualified media production locations in BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Sections 485A.103(a), (b), and (c), Government Code, are amended to read as follows: (a) There may not be more than 15 [10] media production development zone designations under this chapter at any one time. (b) There may not be more than 10 [five] media production development zones under this chapter in a region at any one time. (c) Each media production development zone may not contain more than eight qualified [three] media production locations at any SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
