What This Bill Does
Designates the State Highway 242 bridge intersecting State Highway 59 in Montgomery County as the Lance Corporal Armando Hernandez Memorial Bridge. The Texas Department of Transportation will design and erect markers at each end of the bridge to commemorate Lance Corporal Hernandez, honoring his service and sacrifice. The memorial bridge designation will take effect on September 1, 2025.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Section 225.217 to read as follows: Sec. 225.217. LANCE CORPORAL ARMANDO HERNANDEZ MEMORIAL BRIDGE. (a) The State Highway Bridge in Montgomery County intersecting SH 242 and SH 59 is designated as the Lance Corporal Armando Hernandez Memorial Bridge. The designation is in addition (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: (1) design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Lance Corporal Armando Hernandez Memorial Bridge and any other appropriate information; and (2) erect a marker at each end of the bridge. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
