What This Bill Does

This Texas bill establishes a digital identification program allowing Texans to have digital versions of driver's licenses, hunting/fishing licenses, handgun licenses, and other state-issued credentials on their mobile devices. The Department of Public Safety will develop a digital ID solution that can be used across different connectivity levels and includes authentication processes, with no fees charged to users. Importantly, these digital IDs cannot be used for voting and will be issued alongside traditional physical credentials.
