What This Bill Does
Creates a new criminal offense called "jugging," which occurs when someone intentionally follows or targets a person after they withdraw money from a bank, ATM, credit union, or financial institution with the purpose of stealing their money. The offense is classified as a state jail felony, escalating to a third-degree felony if additional crimes are committed during the act, and potentially becoming a first-degree felony under certain circumstances. The law aims to protect individuals from targeted theft after financial transactions by criminalizing predatory following behaviors.
