What This Bill Does
Establishes new rules for how Texas state agencies define minimum job requirements for positions, allowing agencies to consider direct work experience as an alternative to traditional educational credentials. State agencies must now clearly outline minimum job requirements, including relevant direct experience and necessary certifications, and can substitute verified work experience for postsecondary degrees when determining candidate qualifications. The legislation aims to provide more flexibility in hiring by focusing on skills and transferable experience rather than strictly adhering to formal educational requirements.
