What This Bill Does

Allows the Texas Facilities Commission to donate surplus motor vehicles and law enforcement equipment from the Department of Public Safety to municipal or county law enforcement agencies, or school districts in economically disadvantaged areas. The receiving agencies cannot sell the donated property for at least two years after receiving it. The goal is to help support border security and crime-fighting efforts in areas with limited resources by redistributing existing government equipment.
