What This Bill Does

This Texas bill extends Medicaid coverage for pregnant women from 12 months to 24 months after giving birth or experiencing an involuntary miscarriage. The expanded coverage ensures women have continuous access to medical services during a critical postpartum period, potentially improving maternal health outcomes and reducing gaps in healthcare. The bill will affect low-income pregnant women eligible for Medicaid and take effect on September 1, 2025, pending federal authorization.
