What This Bill Does

This Texas bill requires courts to inform and directly ask applicants seeking protective orders about specific location-based restrictions they may want imposed on a person found to have committed family violence. The court must specifically discuss potential location restrictions with the applicant and ask if they want these restrictions included in the protective order if family violence is likely to recur. The bill ensures that the applicant's preferences are considered when determining location-based protective order restrictions, giving victims more input in their own safety measures.
