relating to a study by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regarding the protection of certain water facilities from BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall conduct a study of potential methods for protecting public drinking water supply systems regulated by the commission under Chapter 341, Health and Safety Code, and wastewater treatment facilities regulated by the commission under Chapter 26, Water (2) catastrophic weather events; (3) conduct that constitutes an offense under Chapter (4) the projected effects of climate change; and (5) other potential disruptions to providing water (b) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall consult with other state agencies or interested persons as needed (c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall: (1) create a report on the results of the study that includes recommendations for legislative or other action to facilitate the protection of the facilities described by Subsection (2) submit the report to the governor and the SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
