What This Bill Does
Requires all Texas law enforcement agencies to create a policy restricting when peace officers can discharge a firearm at or toward a moving vehicle. Officers are only permitted to use deadly force when they reasonably believe they or another person are facing imminent deadly force from the vehicle's occupant, beyond just using the vehicle as a weapon. The policy aims to reduce potentially dangerous shootings at moving vehicles by establishing clear, restrictive guidelines for law enforcement agencies statewide.
