What This Bill Does
Prohibits school districts from automatically deducting professional organization or union membership dues from classroom teachers' salaries, effectively making such deductions illegal starting September 1, 2025. The legislation specifically targets labor organizations, trade unions, employees' associations, and professional organizations, preventing automatic payroll deductions for their membership fees. Classroom teachers will now be responsible for personally paying their professional organization dues rather than having them automatically withdrawn from their paychecks.
