What This Bill Does
Allows sheriffs and constables to independently contract with property owners' associations or landowners to provide law enforcement services in their designated areas, without requiring approval from the county commissioners court. It mandates that any money received from these contracts must be credited directly to the sheriff's or constable's office budget and cannot be transferred to the county's general revenue fund, ensuring these law enforcement offices retain the full financial benefit of their contractual services. The legislation aims to give sheriffs and constables more financial autonomy and flexibility in providing targeted law enforcement services.
