What This Bill Does

Removes the requirement for kindergarten through third-grade teachers and principals to attend a teacher literacy achievement academy. Instead, it maintains the mandate for school districts to use a phonics-based curriculum with systematic direct instruction in early grades and prioritize placing effective teachers in kindergarten through second grade. The bill aims to simplify teacher professional development requirements while maintaining a focus on early literacy skills for students.
