What This Bill Does
Provides a one-time 10% cost-of-living adjustment for monthly retirement benefits paid by the Employees Retirement System of Texas, specifically for retirees and beneficiaries with service credits in the employee class. The adjustment will apply to service retirement, disability retirement, and death benefits, with the board of trustees required to recompute monthly benefit amounts starting September 1, 2025. This increase aims to help retired Texas state employees keep pace with rising living costs by providing a substantial one-time boost to their monthly retirement payments.
