What This Bill Does
Allows Texas high schools to offer a new physical education course focused on lifetime recreation and outdoor pursuits, which can include hunter education. The course would satisfy a physical education credit requirement and be developed collaboratively by the State Board of Education and Parks and Wildlife Department. If passed, the course would become available to students starting in the 2025-2026 school year, providing an alternative pathway for students to complete their PE requirements while learning outdoor skills.
